The DLC for Battlefield 3 will be available on Dec 6th on the PS3 and on Dec 13th on PC and Xbox 360. Back to Karkand will be free to owners of Battlefield 3 Limited Edition, and will include 4 maps, 10 new weapons, 3 new vehicles, and a new way to unlock weapons, called “Assignments“.

Battlefield 3 needs to be authorised via an Origin activation before it can be played online, but Origin's activation service has gone down, leaving those who are yet to activate their copies unable to play the game. The official Battlefield 3 Twitter feed has responded to the wave of complaint, saying: "Origin activation is down at the moment. We are aware of the issue and working on it. Thank you for your patience." It has, in the last few minutes, updated with: "We are currently trying to resolve the matter! We will update the community asap," but refuses to answer questions of how long the downtime will last. This is the latest in a string of server-related woes for the blockbuster shooter, after Xbox 360 online play spent hours offline on launch day, and the Origin and Battlelog sites suffered intermittent problems. 	Topic: Battlefield 3 Open Beta has started Date: 29 Sep 2011 Submitted by: IRU_The Donk Category: Battlefield 3's much-anticipated open beta has started today on all platforms. The beta will run until Oct. 10 and will give players a chance to check out the game and the social platform Battlelog, according to the post on the official website for the game. The beta is set in Paris on the Operation Metro map playing the game's Rush mode. According to the developers, the full version of the game will feature 5 different modes, to be played across 9 expansive maps.

Fortunately we've managed to get it back up again. Since it changed servers it should run smoother now. Only bad thing is that on the forum a back up is used from over a year ago. Sorry about that.
